Coalesce, LLC, doing business as BenefitElect, has notified individuals that unauthorized activity was detected on its systems on April 2, 2025. Following an investigation with a third-party specialist, the company determined that certain files were accessed and/or exfiltrated without authorization between March 30 and March 31, 2025. BenefitElect describes this as a case of hacking or system intrusion rather than an internal error, and says it has since reviewed and strengthened its security policies and cybersecurity measures. The company states it is not aware of any actual or attempted misuse of the information involved.
BenefitElect is a benefits administration platform used by employers to manage enrollment for employees and their family members. This notice was sent to individuals whose benefits eligibility and onboarding census data was processed through the platform, meaning you may be receiving this letter because of your own employer’s use of the service or that of a family member’s employer. The company has not disclosed a total number of people affected in the portion of the letter provided.

As a precaution, BenefitElect is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection through IDX for either 12 or 24 months, depending on the offer stated in your individual letter. To enroll, visit https://app.idx.us/account-creation/protect and use the Enrollment Code printed at the top of your letter; the deadline to enroll is June 23, 2026. You must complete enrollment yourself, as the company is not permitted to do this on your behalf, and the monitoring must be actively turned on to take effect.
What should you do now?
- Enroll in the free IDX credit monitoring and identity theft protection before the June 23, 2026 deadline, and make sure to activate the monitoring feature once registered.
- Because your Social Security number was involved, consider placing a fraud alert or a credit freeze with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — a freeze is free and prevents new credit from being opened in your name without your consent.
- Request your free annual credit reports at www.annualcreditreport.com and review them closely for any accounts or inquiries you don’t recognize.
- Watch your bank and benefits statements, including your explanation of benefits, for anything unfamiliar.
- Consider signing up for a service like Aura or LifeLock, which can alert you if your information appears elsewhere, such as on the dark web.
- If you notice suspicious activity, file a report with local law enforcement and the FTC at www.identitytheft.gov, and keep copies for your records.
